what is the anwser to this problem: 20t-28=10t+2
I need some help on my homework and i have no
idea how to do simlifying and solving of equations.
The process always involves getting the terms with the
unknown onto the left side of the equation, and all constants
onto the right side of the equation.
20t - 28 = 10t + 2
Start by subtracting 10t from both sides.
20t - 28 - 10t = 10t + 2 - 10t
10t - 28 = 2
Now, add 28 to both sides.
10t - 28 + 28 = 2 + 28
10t = 30
Divide both sides by 10 and you have the answer.
10t / 10 = 30 / 10
t = 3
Of course, you are never sure until you check your answer
by plugging it into the original problem.
20t - 28 = 10t + 2
20(3) - 28 = 10(3) + 2
60 - 28 = 30 + 2
32 = 32
The fact that the equation is still valid proves
that the answer was correct.
