The area of the trapezoid is ((2 + y)/2)*x --->>>  ( (2+x/2+2)/2)*x = A(x)  --->>>  A(x) = 2x+x2/4

A(0) = 2*0+0/4 = 0  So A(0)=0   A(1) = 2*1+1/4=2.25  so A(1) = 2.25  and   A(2)=2*2 + 4/4 = 5  So A(2)=5

A(3)=2*3+9/4 = 6+2.25 = 8.25  So A(3)=8.25  

A(3)-A(1) = 8.25-2.25 = 6
