2 + k/2 = -2

Subtract 2 from both sides.

2 + k/2 - 2 = -2 - 2

(2 - 2) + k/2 = (-2 - 2)

k/2 = -4

Now multiply both sides by 2.

2(k/2) = 2(-4)

k = -8
