 A log of square section is 5m x 1m x 1m.The relative density of the log is o.51and it floats half submerged in dock water. find the relative density of the dock water.

Volume of log is V = 5 * 1 * 1 = 5 m^3

Weight of log is V * density= 5 * (0.51*1000) = 2,550 kg

Volume of displaced water is half volume of log.

V2 = 2.5 m^3

Density of water displaced = weight of displaced water / volume of displaced water

Density = 2,550 kg / 2.5 m^3 = 1020 kg/m^3
