Annette drives her car 110 miles and has a mean of a certain speed. If the mean speed has been 6 mph more, she would have traveled 132 miles in the same length of time. What was her mean speed

Annette travels an extra 22 miles (132 - 110) with an increased speed of 6 mph greater.

That means she must have been travelling for 22/6 = 3 2/3 hrs

Her original mean speeed then would have been 110 / (3 2/3) miles / hr

mean speed = 110 / (22/6) = 110*6/22 = 5*6 = 30

Original mean speed = 30 mph
