Problem: solve 6-3a=a+4
solving equations with variables

6 - 3a = a + 4
6 - 3a - 6 = a + 4 - 6
-3a = a - 2
-3a - a = a - 2 - a
-4a = -2
-4a/-4 = -2/-4
a = 1/2

Check:

6 - 3(1/2) = 1/2 + 4
6 - 1 1/2 = 4 1/2
4 1/2 = 4 1/2

Answer: a = 1/2
