The question is:  How much is 16/27 of 15/16 pounds?

"how much" means x

"is" means =

"of" means *

x = 16/27  *  15/16

x = (16 * 15) / (27 * 16)

x = 15 / 27

x = 5 / 9

Answer:  Fran used 5/9 of a pound of cheese.
