x - 6y = 12

To find the y-intercept (i.e. where the line goes through the y-axis) put x = 0.

So the equation becomes:   0 - 6y = 12

                                                  -6y = 12

So now divide both sides of the equation by -6.

So it becomes:   -6y / -6 = 12 / -6

                                y = -2

And so the line goes through the y-axis at the point (0,-2).

So now you can find the x-intercept by putting y = 0.

So if y = 0 then the equation becomes:

x - 0 = 12

x = 12

And so the line goes through the x-intercept at the point (12,0).

You can now plot these two points on a graph and then join them by a line which will give you the equation.   smiley
