Problem: how to show all work and find the difference
(-8x^2-8x-4)-(-2x^2-7x+3)

(-8x^2 - 8x - 4) - (-2x^2 - 7x + 3)

The subtraction changes all the signs in the second
set of parentheses. Now, you can add.

(-8x^2 - 8x - 4) + (+2x^2 + 7x - 3)
-8x^2 + 2x^2 - 8x + 7x  - 4 - 3
-6x^2 - x - 7
