The equation for the area of a circle is pi multiplied by the radius squared, i.e.

Area = (pi) x r^2

, where r = radius, which is the distance from the centre of a circle to the side, i.e. in this case 10cm. The radius is the same as the diameter divided by 2.

So for this case,   A = (pi) x (10)^2 ≈ 3.14 x 10 x 10 = 3.14 x 100 = 314 cm^2

So the final answer is 314 centimetres squared    cheeky
