Two games went on for a total of 32 minutes. One game took 12 minutes longer than the other. How long did it take to complete each game?

Let t1 be the time to complete the 1st game.

let t2 be the time to complete the 2nd gane.

Our two equatins then are,

t1 + t2 = 32    (the two games went on for a total of 32 mins)

t1 - t2 = 12    (one game is 12 mins longer than the other)

Adding the two equations together gives us,

2t1 = 44     divide both sides by 2.

t1 = 22

and t2 = t1 - 12 = 10

Answer: the two times are: 22 mins and 10 mins
