How do I solve for X in: 1.4460(x) + 1.3329(1-x) = 1.4255

OK, let's multiply everything out. We start with

1.4460(x) + 1.3329(1 - x) = 1.4255    now multiply out the (1 - x) bracket. This gives us,

1.446.x + 1.3329 - 1.3329.x = 1.4255      put the x-terms together on one side, and the constant values on the other side.

1.446.x - 1.3329.x = 1.4225 - 1.3329   take out a fsctor if x from the two terms on the lhs.

(1.446 - 1.3229).x = 1.4225 - 1.3229     now do the arithmetic

0.1431.x = 0.0996     divide both sides by 0.1431

x = 0.0996 / 0.1431

x = 0.69601677

Answer: x = 0.6960   to 4 dp
