y=2x-8 y=-2/3x
Please help me, it's due tomorro. PLEASE , thank you.

y = 2x - 8    y = -2/3x
Because the left side of both equations is y,
the right sides of both equations are equal, so substitute.

2x - 8 = -2/3 x
2x - 8 + 2/3 x = -2/3 x + 2/3 x
2 2/3 x - 8 = 0
2 2/3 x - 8 + 8 = 0 + 8
2 2/3 x = 8
8/3 x = 8
(8/3 x) * 3/8 = 8 * 3/8
x = 3

Using that, we can solve for y.

y = 2x - 8
y = 2(3) - 8
y = 6 - 8
y = -2

Use the second equation to verify.

y = -2/3 x
-2 = -2/3 (3)
-2 = -2

Answer: x = 3, y = -2

If you were to graph the given equations, they
would intersect at the point (3, -2)
