that is the correct answer I just don't understand the operation that got the -16 in the equation, it is part of simplifying complex fractions.

(y - 6)(4 + (8 / (y - 6)))
= 4(y - 6) + (8(y - 6) / (y - 6))
= 4y - 24 + 8
= 4y - 16
