You will most likely have gone wrong at -30 - 10.  This gives -40 not -20.  Dont worry if you did; i just did this as well!

10  +   2r      =-30               Original equation

-10               -10                  take 10 off from both sides

-----------------------------

          2r        =    -40

           r         =     -20                Hope this helps :)
