1/2x+3y=4 for xwhen y=6

1/2x + 3(6) = 4

1/2x + 18 = 4

now subtract 18 to both sides

1/2x = -14

now divide 1/2 to both sides

x = -28

Check: 1/2(-28) + 3(6) = 4

-14 + 18 = 4

4 = 4 :)
