In mathematics, the concept of a "limit" is used to describe the value that a function or sequence "approaches" as the input or index approaches some value.-Wikipedia

 

Limit values do not always equal the point value.

But if the function is continuous, the limit value must equal the point value.

But if the function is not continuous, the limit value may equal the point value.
