solve equation?
solve the equation. 2-3x/7+x-1/3=3x/7

I would start by eliminating the fractions. Multiply
both sides of the equation by 21.

21(2 - 3x/7 + x - 1/3) = (3x/7) * 21
42 - 9x + 21x - 7 = 9x
12x + 35 = 9x
12x + 35 - 9x = 9x - 9x
3x + 35 = 0
3x + 35 - 35 = 0 - 35
3x = -35
3x / 3 = -35 / 3
x = -35/3

Always check the answer.

2 - 3x/7 + x - 1/3 = 3x/7
2 - 3(-35/3)/7 + (-35/3) - 1/3 = 3(-35/3)/7
2 + 35/7 - 35/3 - 1/3 = -35/7

Again, eliminate those pesky fractions by multiplying by 21.

21(2 + 35/7 - 35/3 - 1/3) = (-35/7) * 21
42 + 105 - 245 - 7 = -105
-105 = -105

x = -35/3
