what is the common denominater of 1/16 and 1/32?
2 friends eat a part of a pan of lazagna.  one eats 1/16 and the other 1/32.  how much of the lazagna is left?

The common denominator is 32.

1/16 + 1/32 =
2/32 + 1/32 = 3/32

Together, they ate 3/32.

32/32 - 3/32 = 29/32 left over.
