how do you solve -2(5+6c)+16=90

-2(5 + 6c) + 16 = 90
-10 - 12c + 16 = 90
-12c + 6 = 90
-12c = 84
c = -7

Always check.

-2(5 + 6c) + 16 = 90
-2(5 + 6(-7)) + 16 = 90
-2(5 - 42) + 16 = 90
-2(-37) + 16 = 90
74 + 16 = 90
90 = 90

Answer: c = -7
