y = -2x + 2

The function would be a slope.  Plug in different values for x and plot the points on a graph.

y = -2(1) + 2 --> y = 0 (1,0)

y = -2(2) + 2 --> y = -2 (2, -2)

This indicates a negative slope, decreasing from left to right.
