2x + 3y = 400 so

y = 400/3 - 2/3x

then in 3x + 2y = 425 so 3x + 2(400/3 - 2/3x) = 425

3x + 800/3 - 4/3x = 425

5/3x + 800/3 = 425

5/3x = 575/3

x=125
