-2/3a + 2/5 = 3/4
im not really sure if this is a pre-algebra question

When possible, eliminate the fractions by multiplying
by the lowest common denominator. In this problem,
that would be 3 * 4 * 5 = 60

60 * (-2/3a + 2/5) = 3/4 * 60
-40a + 24 = 45
-40a + 24 - 24 = 45 - 24
-40a = 21
-40a / -40 = 21 / -40
a = -21/40

Simply assuming that's correct could be a mistake. Check it.

-2/3a + 2/5 = 3/4
-2/3(-21/40) + 2/5 = 3/4
42/120 + 2/5 = 3/4
7/20 + 2/5 = 3/4
7/20 + (2/5)(4/4) = 3/4
7/20 + 8/20 = 3/4
15/20 = 3/4
3/4 = 34
