y=x-5 y=9x+43
I need help on this problem quickly !!!!

1) y = x - 5
2) y = 9x + 43

Both equations equal y, so the equations are equal
to each other.

x - 5 = 9x + 43
x - 5 - 9x = 9x + 43
-8x - 5 = 43
-8x - 5 + 5 = 43 + 5
-8x = 48
-8x / -8 = 48 / -8
x = -6

Use equation 1 to solve for y.

y = x - 5
y = -6 - 5
y = -11

Check by plugging both values into equation 2.

y = 9x + 43
-11 = 9(-6) + 43
-11 = -54 + 43
-11 = -11
