On a previous post I missed typed - so that answer was also wrong.  Here goes for the 2nd time:

Solve for g.  $20.597=0.4530 cents x g

                                   1.12% - g    Note: The 1.12% - g should be underneath the underline to indicate division of numerator  of 0.4530 cents x g into denominator of 1.12% - g .

The Answer is g = 1.0959 or 9.59%.   I do not know how the instructor got it.

Thank you in advance for you knowledge.

??????????????? "underneeth" ??????????? me assume yu meen belo or under

???? du yu tri tu sae 20.597$=(0.453sents)*g / (1.12%-g)......?????? PERSENT ?????

well, sent=0.01 $, so yu get 20.597$=(0.00453$)*g/ (0.0112-g)

become (0.0112-g)*20.597$=0.00453$g

or 0.2306864 -20.597g=0.00453g

or (20.597+0.00453)g=0.2306864

20.60153g=0.2306864

g=0.2306864/20.60153

g=0.011197537

sorry wrong answer of g=0.011197537.  I gave you the authors answer of g= 1.0959

Let me restate exactly how the equation looks in the text book:
$20.597= 0.4530 * g / 1.12 - g.
