you can't square any number to get a negative number

negative times negative=positive eg.-7*-4=28

if you do it in a calc, it will just say ERROR so don't bother

Let be the unknown number be x, so x² = -1

x² is negative, so x is not a real number, but a imaginary number: i = √-1 (or i² = -1)

Thus, x = √-1 (= i)

The answer is: x=√-1 (= i: imaginary number)
