if using a number line the answer would be 2.14 but by using a calculator the answer comes out to be -1.86

only thing I can think of is on the number line it measures the distance between the points  5.14 and 7,  and distance can never be negative, it is always positive, HOWEVER the answer would still be 1.86 but positive I have no idea where 2.14 came from. ( I could be wrong this is just what I could think of to explain this)
