I suppose the question may be "Find the value of x, if the distance between the points (x,7) and (2,3) is 5".

Solution:

Distance between two points is given by: √[ (x₂ - x₁)² + ( y₂ - y₁ )² ]

==> √[ (x - 2)² + ( 7 - 3 )² ] = 5

Solving the above, x = 5 or -1
