(x + 2) / (x - 4)   divide by (1) / (3x - 12)

you can switch between multiply and divide if you flip the fraction on the right

(x + 2) / (x - 4) times (3x - 12) / (1)

multiply the tops of each fraction together and the bottoms of each fraction together

(x + 2)(3x - 12) / (x - 4)(1)

factor a 3 out of 3x-12 and remove the (1) since it doesn't change anything

3(x + 2)(x - 4) / (x - 4)

cancel the x-4 since it's on the top and bottom

Answer:  3(x+2)
