In a survey of 56 students, it was found that the number of student who like football and cricket is in the ratio 5:4 . If 7 like both games and 9 like neither of the games then by drawing venn-diagram, (i) find how many student like football (ii) find how many student like cricket only.

Subtract 9 from 56 to find how many like.

47 students are split in ratio 5 to 4, so there are 9 parts all together,but 7 students like both sports.Let's take x as number of stidents in one part.

9x-7=47 (we subtract 7 because we count them twice)

9x=54

x=6

football: 6x5=30

cricket: 6x4=24

to draw a venn diagram, draw two overlapping circles and put 7 in the middle.
