Question: 7x+39 solve for x.

2(x + 6) = -7x + 39    -- expand the bracketed term.

2x + 12 = -7x + 39    -- group the x-terms on one side and the constant values on the other.

2x + 7x = 39 - 12      -- simplify.

9x = 27                     -- divide both sides by 9.

x = 3
