Convert the mixed number to improper fraction first. Then cancel out any common factors and multiply across.

(2 2/3)(2 2/5)

= (8/3)(12/5) [note that both 3 and 12 are divisible by 3]

= (8/1)(4/5) [multiply across now]

= (8 * 4) / (1 * 5)

= 32 / 5 [convert it back to mixed number if you have to]

= 6 2/5
