When I have a sample data set of responses to a Likert question as follows:

1=0

2=0

3=3

4=0

5=2

Do I calculate standard deviation this way: 0+0+0+3+3+3+0+0+0+0+5+5

Or do I calculate it this way: 3+3+3+5+5
