How many gallons will a container, 2'x6'x6'6" hold

One gallon is 231 cubic inches, so change all the values in the problem to inches.

2' = 24 inches
6' = 72 inches
6'6" = 78 inches

Multiply them.

24 * 72 = 1728
1728 * 78 = 134784 cubic inches

Divide by the volume of one gallon, 231 cubic inches.

134784 cubic inches / (231 cubic inches / gallon) = 583.48 gallons
