Jimmy says 3 4/9 - 2 5/6 = 1 1/3 , was Jimmys answer reasonable or not ?

First, change the numbers into mixed fractions.
3 4/9 = (3 * 9/9) + (4/9) = 27/9 + 4/9 = 31/9
2 5/6 = (2 * 6/6) + (5/6) = 12/6 + 5/6 = 17/6

They need a common denominator. The Lowest Common Denominator of 9 and 6 is 18.
(31/9) * (2/2) = 62/18
(17/6) * (3/3) = 51/18

Perform the subtraction
(62/18) - (51/18) = 11/18

That's less than 1, so Jimmy's answer is NOT reasonable.

I was distracted. I meant improper fractions.
