-2/3 = 6 + v/3
3 * (-2/3) = (6 + v/3) * 3
-2 = 18 + v
-2 - 18 = 18 + v - 18
-20 = v

Check it:

-2/3 = 6 + v/3
-2/3 = 6 + (-20)/3
-2/3 = 6 - 6 2/3
-2/3 = -2/3
