3x^2+6x-1=0

When comparing this equation to ax^2+bx+c=0, we get a=3, b=6, c=-1

The formula x=[-b(+ or _) root of(b^2-4ac)]/2a

                    =[-6(+ or -)root of (6^2-4*3*-1)]/2*3

                    =[-6(+or -) root of (36+12)]/6

                    =[-6(+ or -) root of (48)]/6

                    =[-6(+ or -) root of (3*2*2*2*2)]/6

                    =[-6(+ or -) 4*root of (3)]/6

                    =2[-3 (+ or -)2 root of (3)]/6

                    =[-3(+ or -) 2 root of (3)]/3

Therefore x=[-3+2 root of(3)]/3 or x=[-3-2 root of (3)]/3
