what are the factors of 2x^3+14x^2+16x-32

first factor out a factor of 2.

2(x^3 + 7x^2 + 8x - 16)

now look at the -16 factors are 1,2,4,8,16 and the negative of these.

you can use sythetic division or long division.

try each of the factors remember that the values are the opposite positive are negative and vice versa.

1  |  1   7    8    -16

    |       1    8      16

      1    8   16      0 this is a factor so

(x -1)(x^2 + 8x + 16)  now factor the "x^2 term"

(x - 1)(x + 4)(x + 4)
