Question : ln(5-x)+1=0. Solve for x.

ln() is for the natural logarithms, and is to the base e.

If we have ln(a) = b, then that means that a = e^b.

Since we we have ln(5 - x) = -1,then that means that (5 - x) = e^(-1) = 1/e.

5 - x = 1/e

5 - 1/e = x

Answer: x = 5 - 1/e
