Question: What is the equation to the function x=-1,0,1,2 y=2,4,8,16 ?

x = |-1|  | 0 | | 1 | | 2 |
y = | 2 | | 4 | | 8 | |16|, or

y = |2^1||2^2||2^3||2^4|

We see that the powers of 2 for the consecutive y-values are, in each case, 2 more than the corresponding x-value. i.e. y = 2^p, where p = x+2.

This gives us the equation of the function as,

y = 2^(x+2)
