x does not equal to 2 or - 2?????
by Level 8 User (35.3k points)
x does not equal to 2!
(x+2)^2(x-1)+3(x+2)(x-1)=(x+2)P
If x not = -2, then (x+2) is not = 0, so we can divide each side by (x+2)
(x+2)(x-1)+3(x-1)=P
open up the () using FOIL and combine like terms:
x^2-x+2x-2+3x-3=P
x^2+4x-5=P
Factor this out:
(x-1)(x+5)=P
then we're in trouble
