Question: I need to convert 496,759 cubic meters in metric tons with density of the rock 2,6. The rock is volcanic basalt, the operation is mining the volume required is i cubic meters , the density of the rock is 2,6. what is the value in metric tons?

The specific gravity is 2.6.

So density is 2.6 tonnes/cubic metre  (1 tonne is 1 metric ton)

Vol = 496,759 cu metres.

Mass = Vol * density

M = 496,759 * 2.6 = 1, 291, 573.4 tonnes
