want=1& 3/4 pound=7/4=1.75 pound

wate=(1 & 1/4)-(1/16)=1.25 -0.0625=1.1875

need=1.75-1.1875

9/16 pound; In order to find this answer, you need to subtract the weight of the container from the amount on the scale to find the weight of the cheese.

1 1/4 - 1/16= 1 3/16 pounds.

Then, you need to subtract the difference asked for.

1 3/4 - 1 3/16 = 9/16 pound.

There you go! I hope I helped, this is the right answer, I checked the teacher's guide!
