Question: A concert is being held in a gym that can hold no more than 500 people, the bleachers seat 60 people there will also be 21 rows of chairs set up, at most how many people can sit in each row?

The max number of people is 500.

The bleachers can hold 60 people.

That leaves 440 people to be placed in the 21 rows of seats.

If there are n people in each row, then total number of people is 21*n people.

So 21n = 440

n = 440/21 = 20.95 approx

But n must be a whole number (can't have a fractional person)

So let n = 20.

(If n was 21, then 21 rows, with 21 persons in each row, would be 21 * 21 people = 441 people. But max number of people is only 440, so 21 people in each row is too much. So it's just 20)
