Your average mark so far is 56%, (for coursework, say).

Since the exam is worth 15%, then coursework is worth 85%.

Let's say that you will get x% for the exam and that you will pass if you achieve an overall average of 50%.

Then the numbers add up like this.

56*0.85 + x*0.15 = 50*1.00

47.6 + 0.15x = 50

0.15x = 2.4

x = 2.4/0.15 = 16

Pass achieved for exam pass mark of 16%
