3(8+4 x 5) We need to use PEMDAS

look at the parenthesis first

(8 + 4 * 5)   There are no exponents

we need to check for multiplication and division and do them left to right across the line

(8 + 20) = 28  replace this back into the original statement

3(28) = 84
