2x^2 = 2x - 5

2x^2 - 2x + 5 = 0

use quadratic equation to solve:

x = [-b ± √b2 - 4 a c ] / 2a

substitute into the equation:

a = 2, b = -2, c = -5

x = [-(-2) ± √(-2)2 - 4*2*(-5) ]
