w^2/(w-3) - 9/(w-3)      take out 1/(w-3) as a common denominator

{1/(w-3)}*(w^2 - 9)       the numerator is the difference of two squares

{1/(w-3)}*{(w-3)(w+3)}   cancel the common factor, (w-3), top and bottom

(w+3)

Answer: (w+3)
