4(2x + 3x) = 30    Yes, you distribute the 4 across the parenthesis

8x + 12x = 30        add the x's together

20x = 30                divide by 20 on both sides of the equal sign

x = 30/20 = 3/2     reduce the answer by dividing by 10/10
