The greatest common divisor is the largest number common to the numbers in questions.  It is a prime number of multiple of prime numbers.

for example:

12 = 2 * 2 * 3

15 = 3 * 5

GCF = 3

example 2:

45 = 3 * 3 * 5

60 = 2 * 2 * 3 * 5

GCF = 3 * 5 = 15
